Who are your boxes suitable for?
Our Tiny Acorn Book Club is suitable from newborn babies all the way up to 3 years old! On each Tiny Acorn Book Club, there is a drop-down menu where you can choose what age range the child is in.
Our recommendation is that our Explorer kits are suitable for children aged 3 years and over. Please note, that our Explorer kits are not suitable for children younger than 3 years old, as the educational activities will not be appropriate and we send small parts which may be a choking hazard.
Our Explorer kits are all inspired by beautiful picture books. We do have lots of older subscribers who enjoy the multi-sensory aspect of our activities and the craft-based activities. In our opinion, no one is ever too old for a good picture book.
Our recommendation is that our Investigator kits are suitable for children aged over 6 years old. Please note, that our Explorer kits are not suitable for children younger than 5 years old, as the educational activities will not be appropriate and occasionally we send resources which are not appropriate for children under 5.
These boxes are inspired by chapter books which contain simple illustrations. They are all chosen to ensure that children continue to love books.

Are your boxes suitable for children with additional needs?
The short answer is yes. The multi-sensory approach to lots of our activities is well suited for children with additional needs. If you are unsure please get in touch and we can have a chat.
When will I receive my order?
Our aim is to send your order out within 2 - 3 working days. All orders are sent with Royal Mail Second Class unless agreed otherwise.
If you need an order sooner please get in touch and we will do our very best to send your order out the same or the next day.
If there are enough boxes left in the month you first subscribe, you will receive that month’s box otherwise you will receive your first box in the following month. Please check on the subscription page when ordering to find out which box you will receive and when it will be posted.
If you would rather receive a different box, as your first box, please let us know at checkout in the additional notes section. As long as the box is in stock, we will happily send you a different box.
We will email you to let you know when your box is on its way with a Royal Mail tracking number. If you need your box to arrive by a specific date please get in contact and let us know.
What type of activities are included in the box?
We are very proud that we include a variety of activities each month. These will include: small world play, sensory, arts and crafts, STEM, baking and gardening activities. All these activities will be designed so that your children are learning whilst having fun!
Can I have my order gift wrapped?
Yes you can! We have the option of gift wrapping any of our one-off boxes and the first box from a gift package. If you select to have it gift wrapped we will wrap the box with a raffia ribbon. We will place the box alongside a gift card inside an eco-mailer envelope so it arrives ready to be unwrapped!
What is in the box?
Tiny Acorns Book Club (From Newborn)
Each month they will receive either one or two books depending on what you choose. In the first month, they will also receive a welcome letter. In all following months, they will then receive an educational activity idea that is easy to do at home and suitable for the development and age of the child.
The Explorer Box (from 3 YRS)
Included in this box is the book, step-by-step instructions, our words of the month card and four activities linked to the book which have been designed by experienced teachers. The activities are fun, multi-sensory and educational. They promote thinking skills, a growth mindset and independence skills with influences of Forest Schools, Steiner and Montessori. Everything that you will need for the activities is included in the box.
The Investigator Box (from 6 YRS)
Included in this box is the chapter book, a step-by-step instruction booklet, everything your child will need to complete a hands-on activity, plus Literacy or Numeracy Challenges and extra ideas all linked to the book. If you choose to subscribe your child will receive a gold embossed Writer’s Notebook and pencil with their first box. The activities are meaningful, fun and educational. Each month your child will receive a completely different type of activity which may include STEM, cooking, gardening, arts or crafts.
What is included in a sibling box?
Our sibling boxes include all the resources that two children would need to complete all of the activities. For example, if a box included a painting activity you would receive two paintbrushes and enough paint for two children.
Are your products UKCA tested?
Yes, our products are UKCA tested. Your child's safety is of paramount importance to us. Our playdough and sensory rice are sent to a UK lab to be UKCA tested (the post-Brexit version of CE testing). We have regular conversations with a Toy Safety Lab when designing our new activities.
In addition, we both have our Level 2 Food Safety Certificates, are registered with the Local Authority as a Food Business and are regularly audited by a Health and Safety Officer.
are your products and packaging environmentally friendly?
Yes, they are and we are incredibly proud of our eco-credentials. All of our products and packaging can either be reused, recycled or are biodegradable. Even the stickers we send are bio-degradable. We will never send any single-use plastics!
We are passionate that our impact on the environment is as small as possible.
What is the difference between the gift packages and the subscriptions?
Our subscriptions will automatically renew and our gift packages are a one-off payment and will not auto-renew. We can send handwritten gift cards with both gift packages, one-off boxes and subscriptions.
What do I do if I need to change my address?
Please just send us an email at hello@littlehandslearning.co.uk with your new address and we will change it for you.
Can I pause my subscription?
Yes of course. Please email us at hello@littlehandslearning.co.uk 24 hours before your renewal date and we will move your next payment date to the following month.
How do I cancel my subscription?
If you wish to cancel future renewals you can cancel your renewal at any time in your customer account. This will be the account that you set up when you first subscribe.
Or you can email us at hello@littlehandslearning.co.uk and we will cancel it for you.
Can I have my first box arrive for a specific date?
If you would like your first box to arrive for a specific event eg. a birthday or for Christmas, please email us at hello@littlehandslearning.co.uk and we will try our best to accommodate you.
How much is postage?
All postage is included for all UK orders. All orders are sent with Royal Mail Second Class.
Where do you deliver to?
At the moment we only deliver within the UK.
When will my renewal payment be made?
Monthly subscriptions renew on the same day each month, or the last day of the month if there's no corresponding date in shorter months. For example, if you buy a monthly subscription on January 31, the subscription will renew on February 28, then March 31.
Can I send a box as a gift or gift someone a subscription?
Our boxes and subscriptions make perfect gifts. If you let us know when you order that it is a gift we can send a greeting card with the first box. Let us know what message you would like to send and we will hand write it in the card for you.
