Spot the Letter Sound

Inspired by Pick a Pine Tree written by Patricia Toht, this simple sensory phonics activity is fun and active and will support your little one in recognising letters.

Set up

For this activity I used some of the cardboard from our delivery box, the green sensory rice from our December activity box and added the paintbrush from our June At the Seaside activity box.

The aim of this activity was to find the letters hidden under the rice and then find the same letter in the book.

My son loved this and was so keen to find both. Once located we practiced saying the letter sound.

My son enjoyed the activity so much he was keen to continue, so we then practised making different letters into the rice.

This is an activity that could be easily adapted for any ages.
