Our Kits

A Little Hands Learning Box contains an expertly chosen book and the exact items needed to create fun, hands-on and educational activities. Full instructions are included with example questions designed to start conversations and further the child's learning and understanding. The kits are designed to be engaging and foster a love of learning and reading!

The activities are designed to extend a child’s learning from school and focus on different areas of the national curriculum.

Our Books

We work closely with a range of authors and publishers to choose high-quality books for children. They are chosen by teachers to encourage and support children to love books, reading and learning! Our aim is that all children become life-long readers. These books all feature high-quality language. This language is featured on the mini words and phrases poster included in every kit is designed to further extend and embed the vocabulary from each book.

We send a range of books, including fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Many of the books we send are signed by the author which makes them just that bit more special for the child who is receiving them!

Our Activities

Most learners are kinaesthetic or active learners, which is why the activities are designed to include multi-sensory elements. These are known to be beneficial for all children especially those with additional needs. When we engage in an activity using more than one sense, it forms neural connections related to memory and is therefore more likely to be retained by the learner. These types of activities are proven to help children retain information by at least 40% vs worksheet-based activities.

We know through our own experience as teachers that this approach works and has a lifelong impact on a child's mental well-being and raises the attainment and ensures they make outstanding progress

Healthy Minds

We have worked with children and supported families and schools of all aged children and the majority of our work in education was supporting the most disadantaged children and their families. Many of these families were in crisis and we have seen first hand the impact that mental health can have on children.

For that reason, many of our boxes focus on supporting a child’s mental heath and wellbeing.

The Environment

Getting outside is great for the mind and body! The activities in the box will encourage the child to head outside and explore the natural world. We often send books designed to teach children more about the incredible planet we live on.

At Little Hands Learning, we believe in protecting the natural world and want to ensure that our impact on the environment is as small as possible. We are passionate that everything included in the box, including the box itself can be reused in as many different ways as possible and if not can be safely composted. We never send any single-use plastic!
