Christmas Wreaths

This Christmas craft is the perfect way to let your children be completely creative. There is no one way to complete their wreath and they could truly add almost whatever they liked onto it. Each wreath will be unique and unlike any other!

Christmas Craft Activity for Kids

Set Up:

First we went out for a winter walk to see what treasures we could find. We collected various evergreen including pine and holly. We also collected some autumn leaves that were still on the ground. Then F spotted the seed pods from the roses which had not been pruned back yet and she was desperate for some of those. Then once we got back home we got the wreath and glue from our December activity box out. We were ready to get started!

This is when they could get creative. They both had very different approaches. M was determined to cover as much of the wreath as she could with the treasure they had found. She had a very orderly system and wanted to group similar leaves/greenery together. F on the other hand wanted to dot them around sporadically. Both looked great though!

They both worked away quietly concentrating on what they were doing. I sat with them drinking my tea and just watching what they did. Neither wanted any help, suggestions or interference from me whatsoever! After M had covered hers she then added the odd splash of colour with an orange slice and we used the tissue paper from the box to roll and then add some holly berries. My one tip for making these wreaths is to be generous with the glue and keep them flat until everything is dry. Looking forward to finding the perfect place to hang their wreaths!
