Mother's Day Card

This is a simple and effective Mother’s Day card craft activity for your toddler or child to do at home.

I love this craft because it’s really simple to set up and my son was able to make it by himself. I have always been a big fan of cards that have been made by the child themselves rather than the adult and this card enables my son to be independently creative.

As well as being a wonderful art activity it also enables your toddler to practice their positional language. For example ‘place the button on top of the petals.’

Set Up

For this Mother’s Day card craft activity I used card, tissue paper which I cut into circles, green lolly pop sticks, buttons and PVA glue.

If you don’t have tissue paper you could use paper or cup cake paper cases. Instead of lolly pop sticks you could use straws or pipe cleaners.

As I wanted this card to be my son’s own work, I had a set of the same resources. I showed him what he needed to do by creating my card and he copied.

We first of all added a small blob of PVA glue on the middle of each tissue paper circle and stuck them on top of each other. Then we stuck the lolly pop stick down and then lastly the button.
