Loud or Quiet

If you have a toddler or child who struggles with volume control this is a fun experiment and game to play with them.

It is easy to set up and can be differentiated to suit older and younger children.

Set Up

To set this up I simply placed different piles of loose parts out - the glass pebbles and black beans are from our May activity box and the blue pebbles are from our June box. I then put out four different glass jars and wrote loud and quiet at each end and we were ready.

Together my son and I put different loose parts into the jars and shook them to see if they were loud or quiet and then placed them in order.

It was great fun, taking things in and out of the jars, then giving them a good shake and deciding if they were loud or quiet.

It was my son’s idea to roll the jars to find out if that made any difference to the noise level.

Lovely easy activity for any toddler or child to encourage them to explore noise volumes.
