Space

Continuing with my love of all things Space, this playdough invitation to play space themed activity is great for any toddler or child. I love these type of activities because not only do they look incredibly inviting but there are no rules or boundaries to what my 2 year old can create with the resources. This opens up a whole world of new language that we can explore and use whilst building and playing.

Set Up

For this activity I used various bits from my old teaching resources (the planets and the stars), space rockets, clear glass pebbles, dried chickpeas (these were meant to be asteroids) and pink and white cake pearls (which I thought could be moons). I made my own black playdough - word of warning if you make your own space playdough you will need a lot of black food colouring.

I also like creating these little playdough invitation to play scenes so I will always take some playdough and sit next to my son and create something. Then we just chat about what we are doing. Instead of correcting any mistakes my son may make with tenses / pronouns etc, I repeat his sentence and add the correct tense.

Here are our finished space playdough scences.

My toddler and I really enjoyed doing this playdough invitation to play space themed activity. We will probably do it again tomorrow afternoon.
