Balloons

Balloons are a simple activity that be used at home with your baby. They are a great way to teach baby about cause and effect. Understanding cause and effect is one of the every first stepping stones to developing speech.

Balloons are fantastic because they are relatively cheap and the majority of children seem to love balloons. Place the balloon as close as possible to either baby’s legs or arms and encourage them to move a limb to see and feel the balloon move. This also works with a helium balloon by tying the ribbon around a baby’s ankle or wrist.

If you are off on holiday with baby, pack some balloons with you. They take up very little precious space in your suitcase and baby can play with them anywhere.
